  1. Walk the ground floor and note whether it has markedly fewer walls than the floors above.
  2. Check whether infill walls stop partway up columns, leaving a short exposed segment.
  3. Photograph and date any diagonal cracking at wall and column joints for comparison over time.
  4. Record which exits remain usable if the ground floor deforms, and mark an alternative.
  5. Refer anything you find to a licensed structural engineer rather than acting on your own reading.
